The three most dangerous food-borne illnesses include listeriosis, E.coli, and salmonella. Listeriosis is caused by the bacteria listeria which causes symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. If the listeria infections spreads to one’s nervous system, that person may experience headache, stiff neck, convulsions, confusion, and loss of balance. Listeria can result in death.

    E. coli is also caused by a bacteria, and depending on the type of strain, can also lead to severe illness and/or death.

Salmonella poisoning can occur through contaminated food and/or water sources.
