In the case that a nuclear generator melts down and releases nuclear radiation and waste into the environment, nuclear power would have the most harmful by-product. However, far more common is the waste produced by tar sands. Tar Sands are incredibly wasteful and environmentally harmful, not only ot they release massive amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses into the environment, but it also pollutes massive amounts of water and DESTROYS land.
I agree that nuclear radiation is one of the most dangerous parts of energy production. Veganrevolution is talking about some of the more dramatic instantaneous dangers of nuclear energy production. However, nuclear power plants don’t have to melt down to expose people and animals to harmful radiation. This also happens during the mining, refining, and storage phases of generating nuclear power.
