In terms of average annual energy use, the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) lists a plasma TV bigger than 40″ as the biggest energy user, followed by DVR/TiVo and digital cable. However, the ACEE notes that smaller electronic devices also use up a lot of energy because most of us tend to have a lot of them. Some ways to reduce energy use for electronic devices are to unplug them when not in use, buy a power strip, and use a power meter.
