    I don’t know what you mean by “commonly mined.” If you mean which non-fuel mineral commodity has the most mining operations, it would be construction sand and gravel, with more than 6,000 operations; #2 would be crushed stone (4,000).

    If you mean which is the most valuable, that would be crushed stone, worth $11 billion – more than gold, copper, or any other non-fuel mineral industry.

    If you mean the greatest tonnage, that would be crushed stone, at over a billion tons.
