This probably varies according to region and climate, as well as other factors like local culture. Some of the easiest to grow year-round are chard (a.k.a. silverbeet, in some places), beets, and radishes. In the summer, zucchini will grow rampant with nearly no active care (as will most types of squash), and certain strains of strawberries are also low-maintenance.
