Squirrels have been known to thrive in urban settings. Actually, their life expectancy in a city is higher than it is in a more rural setting. Pest control in the cities have to deal with getting rid of squirrels fairly often.
Pigeons are also common in cities, so much so that some places have implemented programs to reduce their population.
Birds of various species are often common in cities. Pigeons and sparrows can be very common, but many other species are also found.
Squirrels and rabbits inhabit many parks and yards, including even very small plots of grass.
Insects are plentiful in the city, especially things like cockroaches if the temperature and humidity are high. Cicadas and grasshoppers may be found on most trees during the summer.
