I couldn’t find any information about acreage, but according to the USDA, organic fruits and vegetables are the most popular with consumers. They accounted for 37% of organic food sales in 2008. Dairy and beverages were next, with 16% and 13% of the total. Organic farming is one of the fastest growing segments of U.S. agriculture: 4.8 million acres of farmland were dedicated to organic farming in 2008. While this may seem like a lot, it is still only 0.7% or cropland and 0.5% of pastureland in the U.S.
