It seems the chimpanzee is the most agressive type of monkey. Agressive behavior in monkies stems from many different sources including genetic, biochemical, and social. Dominance battles do take place in orangutans, gorillas, and baboons, and while chimps have a more hierarchial control, they are extremely violent. Male chimps are known to harass females, male chimps are known to kill and eat infants (gorillas and baboons have been observed to do the same), chimps hunt other species of monkies, chimps engage in war with neighboring groups, female chimps sometimes attack other female chimps, chimps have killed humans. Their relatives the bonobos are much more peaceful and nonviolent.
