A recent study is suggesting that the most dramatic change in climate in Earth’s history occurred 12,700 years ago during a climate shift to what is known as the Younger Dryas period. During this time, scientists have found that temperatures dropped three to four degrees Celsius in only one year. A change in the Gulf Stream currents are suspected as the catalyst for such a quick change the cooled most of the Northern Hemisphere in just one year.
