Monolithic domes are a type of housing constructed in the shape of a dome. It uses an inflatable, balloon like, tough structure called an Airform which will determine the size and shape of the dome. In addition to the Airform, steel-reinforced concrete and a polyurethane foam insulation are used. These domes are thought to be excellent homes because they can withstand the majority of natural disasters including hurricanes, earth quakes, tornadoes, fires, termites and more. They are also environmentally friendly since they use about half the energy of a regular home. They are also very cost effective.
