Climate change is considered a military issue. Logically, it is a significant national security threat, and has the potential to increase instability and dangerous political situations in nations all over the world. Thus, it is an issue of concern in that sense. In addition, the military has been pursuing measures to decrease its carbon footprint, although it is difficult to do so with how cost and energy intensive war is.
Climate change could lead to conflict over resources and a less stable international environment — international relations become a huge part of combatting climate change, and the military recognizes that. They’ve also designated climate change as a destabilizing force, indicating that they anticipate possible increased conflict. Increasing sea levels also pose a logistical problem for our navy.
