The Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, is one the the most eco friendly base in the US, and also has the largest solar powered residential community in the country. They have enstalled 900 solar energy systems on the base housing, which is expectced to provide 75% of the engery needed for the house and preventing the release of 1,035 tons of CO2 into the air, which is equivalent to taking 255 cars off the road. They are also planning on working towards better recycling programs and more “green” communities.
Most likely, the military base in the Mojave desert has the most renewable system. It features electric cars, solar panels, and other renewable amenities. See the L.A. Times article at the link for more.
