The Mazda G engine is a new 4 cylinder engine model. This engine weighs 140 pounds less than any other 4 cylinder engine. Due to these changes and some fuel economy boosting changes, a Mazda 3 car will receive 30 miles per gallon (MPG) in the city and 40 MPG on the highway when equipped with a sky G engine. This feat is due in part to the change in the engines compression ratio. Mazda altered the compression ratio from 11:1 up to 14:1, which simply means the engine is getting more output given the same inputs. The only drawback to this engine is that it requires premium fuel.
