I assume you are referring to the NPR story about the groundwater contamination problem in New Mexico. Dairy is one of the largest industries in New Mexico but recent findings have shown that contamination, namely increased levels of nitrogen, has been leaking into the groundwater table underneath many of these confined animal feeding operations. Community groups are organizing to reform the industry but the Dairy lobby is still very strong in that state.
