A spring is any place where water from underground flows onto the Earth’s surface. They are created in one of a few different ways. Basically, water must be forced for one reason or another through cracks in the Earth from the aquifer to the Earth’s surface. This forcing may be from elevation changes, pressure from geological activity, or one of a few other sources.
Hooke’s Law provides the scientific definition between coil springs. This Law states that strain, the relative change in dimension, is proportional to stress. If stress is applied beyond the elastic limit, it will not return to its original state. Reference citation for videos and other multimedia.
