What makes something dishwasher safe?

    High water temperature, harsh cleaning chemicals and high dying heat can reek havoc on cookware.  There is not a set guideline for a product to be dishwasher safe, but typically “anodized aluminum cookware, nonstick cookware, and non-enameled cast iron cookware is not dishwasher safe”, because the surfaces can tarnish, discolor, peel, crack and chip.  The link below gives a good list of brands and types of cookware that are dishwasher safe.
