What makes some animals so much more vulnerable to temperature change?

Animals that live in extreme habitats would be very vulnerable to temperature change. An example would be the polar bear, since they are designed to live in the coldest of climates. As temperatures rise in the arctics from global warming, they face dangers of overheating. Also, their natural habitat is melting away, leaving them with very little food and resources.
