Seventh Generation lists all their ingredients on their products which is less common than it may appear on store shelves. They also leave out any unnatural chemicals as they may be harmful while many other cleaning companies do not. Other companies may use acids and ethanol in their supplies, among other toxic chemicals. One of the primary active ingredients in Seventh Generation products is palm kernel oil which does leave a sizable carbon footprint but Seventh Generation has acknowledged this issue and through its funding uses sustainable palm oil. Its products are even designed to work well under some of the most environmentally friendly conditions such as washing laundry with cold water as this practice saves a tremendous amount of energy in each load.
