Perhaps you meant what makes a lizard a reptile? Reptile is a much larger group than lizard, and contains many different types of animals like snakes and turtles.

Lizards are classified as reptiles for a few reasons.

    1) They are cold-blooded – When you see lizards, they’re usually laying out in the sun on a rock. That’s because, like all reptiles, they do not have the ability to regulate their own temperature internally, and must depened on outside sources like the sun, or hot rocks in order to do it.

    2) Lizards lay eggs rather than gestating in a womb like with mammals.

    3) They have scaly skin instead of soft fur, or hair.

Hope that’s what you were looking for!
