Gelada monkeys or Bleeding Heart Bamboons (gelada theropithecus gelada–Latin for beast-footed, maned) are perhaps most unique for eating only grass. Most other monkeys are omnivores. They also have a striking appearence. Both males and females have heart shaped red patches on their chests which indicate social status in males and fertility in females. They have long, hyacinthine locks of hair (hence the latin name) and exhibit unusual social behavior with their odd chirps and howls.
