What make rain forests unique?

    Many things about a rain forest is unique. They are located in tropical regions, where many other species of tree can’t survive. They receive a lot of rain (80 inches per year on average). They have a canopy that is often 100 ft above ground level, which is home for many animals. The biodiversity and ecosystems within the rainforests are unique. There are many organisms that are particular to this climate.

    Another thing that makes rainforests unique is that many modern medicines have their origins in rainforest plants. These plant-derived medicines make up 25% of all Western pharmaceuticals and 121 perscription drugs. They have also provided up to 80% of the developed world’s diet, including pineapples, ginger, sugar cane, and lemons, among many other things.
