In 1925, an F-5 tornado traveled 219 miles from Missouri to Indiana – killing 689 people, injuring over two thousand, and causing over $18M in damages (1925 dollars).  This is the longest-lasting tornado on record.  However, in 1917, before records were accurately kept for tornadoes, a tornado covered 293 miles and lasted almost seven and a half hours!
