It is doubtful that tupuxuara has any living descendants. Most evidence points to the pterosaur family ending with the mass extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period 65 million years ago. Bird as most likely the descendants of therapod dinosaurs, such as coelophysis, that evolved through intermediary species such as archaeopteryx, there is no living reptiles that show any taxonomic connections to these extinct species.
