The sludge that burst from an alumina plant contains heavy metals considered toxic to humans and animals. The country is estimating that it could take up to one year to clean up the spilled toxic waste. Officials are concerned about the possible contamination of the Danube River and other bodies of water. The death toll is four people with many others sustaining injuries.
