The Chattahoochee River in Atlanta flooded to levels not seen since 1919 on September 21, 2009 due to a prolonged rain storm. Eight days of rain caused much of the city of Atlanta to become underwater and nine people died. The river set a new record when it crested at 31.5 feet.
