The largest mushroom species in the US is the bridgeoporus nobilissimus. They can grow up to 300 pounds and held the Guiness world record until a mushroom fed by a botanical garden in England took the title.
On a side note, another mushroom, Armillaria ostoyae, or the honey mushroom, takes the title of worlds largest living organism. While the individual mushrooms may not be very big, the root system spans the equivalent of 1,665 football fields and produces little mushrooms all over a forest in Oregon.
