The largest shark is the whale shark. It eats crustaceon plankton and various sizes of fish.
While the whale shark is the largest shark, it is the largest filter feeding shark, and not the largest predatory shark. The great white shark is the world’s largest known predatory fish, eating dolphins, porpoises, whales, and seals. They are well known for their size reaching sizes of up to 20 feet and weighing nearly 5,000 pounds. They are carnivores regarded as apex predators, with only humans being the only real predators.
Great white sharks are now on the endangered list. Their habitat extends across the entire planetary mid-section of oceanic waters. While there are about 35-50 shark attacks per year, humans are not on their prey list and these attacks are usually attributed to ‘sample biting’ …curiously biting and releasing rather than intentional attacking.
