According to W.P. Armstrong, the largest type of bean in the world is called Entada gigas.
These pods, which are similar to green beans and snow peas, are grown in Central America. They can be so tall (up to 5 feet) that they are called “escalera de mono,” or monkey’s ladders.
Fun fact: its woody seeds are called “sea hearts” because rivers tend to carry them down to the sea where they float.
