Not all cockroaches are pests. Only 30 out of over 4000 species invade human homes and give us trouble. The American cockroach is the largest common cockroach at about 2 inches long. The heaviest cockroach in the world is the Australian Rhinoceros Cockroach. It is over 3 inches long and weighs 30 grams. The Madagascar Hissing Cockroach is also about 3 inches long.
