The largest solar project that PG&E is a part of is the California Solar Initiative (CSI). Through this program they have set up more than 30,000 customers with solar based power systems. They are, as it stands, the largest supplier of consumer level solar power systems of any utility company in the country, representing a whopping 40% of the market. The plan for the CSI is to be pumping out more than 1,000 gigawatt hours of power each year by 2015, which is close to the average yearly consumption of about 150,000 homes. That may seem like a lot, but it represents only a little over 1.5% of PG&E’s total power distribution.
