The largest snake species native to the US is the indigo snake.  Indigo snakes can reach lengths of 8.5 feet long.  Until last year, the US (particularly the Columbus Zoo) was home to the largest snake in captivity.  It was a reticulated python, which are not native to the United States, but it was 24 feet in length and weighed 300 pounds.
