THE GREAT WHITE SHARK :). Great white sharks grow up to 20 feet long and weigh up to 5000 pounds. White sharks have been kept captive for record months, but in the end they always have to be returned to the ocean. The “returning” part doesn’t always go well but aquarium staff do their best and keep trying. The Monterey Bay Aquarium has had a record of 198 days for great white shark captivity.

Whale sharks are bigger than great whites, and are the largest fish in the ocean being able to grow over 60 feet. There are also some captive ones in Atlanta, Georgia and Okinawa, Japan.
