The aptly named elephant seal is the biggest seal in the world. More specifically, the southern elephant seal is the biggest, there are northern elephant seals that live around California that are not quite as big. Southern elephant seals can be up to 20 feet long and can weigh over 8,000 pounds. They live around the Antarctic waters, so they have to be bigger than their northern brothers to stay warm.

Elephant seals are the largest seals (and in fact largest pinnipeds) in the world, although sexual disparity within the species means that male elephant seals are generally six feet taller and a thousand pounds heavier than their female counterparts.

The largest elephant seal ever recorded was 22.5 feet long and a mind blowing 11000 pounds in weight.
