Ohio State University boasts having the largest in-vessel composting project out of any university in the United States. Their system has the ability to compost two to three tons of organic waste (all food and biodegradable cups, plates, napkins, and utensils). This is an effort to help manage the 10 tons of waste produced daily by OSU’s dining halls. The project claims to be able to process 50% of the waste created with compost soil ready to be used only 15 days later.
