    Opened in 2000, the High Desert State Prison is the largest correctional facility in the state of Nevada.  It spreads a little over 1.5 million square feet, on 160 acres surround by guard towers and electric fence, and is under construction to hold over 4,000 inmates.  In addition to being Nevada’s largest facility, it is also the most secure.
