The capybara is the largest rodent in the world, weighing in at 80 kg (180lb) and can span up to 55 inches in length.  They are native to South America, but are rare pets with only 30 sold in the United States every year and can be found in the zoos.  So to answer your question, I’m sure you can find a capybara in RI as a pet or even in the zoo.

The largest mouse in the world was found on Gough Island in the South Atlantic.  The mouse appears to be a supersized version of the common house mouse, which has tripled in size due to almost no predators or competition for food in the Island.
