As Valkyrie suggested, it is Mount Mitchell. It is located in the Appalachian mountain chain in North Carolina. It was named after Elisha Mitchell, a professor at the University of North Carolina. Mitchell determined the height of the mountain in 1835 and, somewhat ironically, fell to his death at nearby Michell Falls while returning to verify his initial measurements in 1857.
