A U.S. Defense Department project, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency headquarters, located in Northern Virginia and scheduled for completion in 2011, will be the world’s largest LEED-certified building in the world.  Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what building will be pushed back to number two.

The largest LEED certified building in the world is India’s ITC Hotel Royal Gardenia in Bengaluru, with the platinum award. This is mainly because the hotel’s “parent” company ITC is a world leader in sustainability in being carbon positive, water positive and solid waste recycling positive. They bring all of that green knowledge and innovative technology to the hotel, while still creating a luxurious feeling.
