The species is called Bathynomus giganteus. They mature to an average length of 7.5 to 14 inches! They look like a gigantic woodlouse.
The largest isopod species is the Giant Isopod, they can grow up to 16inches in length.
The “Giant Isopods”, Bathynomus giganetus, are the largest isopods in the world. They are crustaceans related to shrimp and crabs and are thought to be abundant in the cold, deep waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Giant Isopods can grow from anywhere between 9-12 inches long and eat large prey like fish!
