The Caspian Sea is the largest inland body of water. Its basin is 750 miles long by 200 miles wide. Currently it is a major source of petroleum but in the past was a major trade route. Iranian fisheries have even put a great emphasis on the development and use of sustainable fisheries.
The Caspian Sea is the largest landlocked body of water. It’s located between Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and to the north of Iran. The sea (or lake as it’s sometimes classified) is 435,000 square kilometers.
