Above all others, crude oil is the United States’ largest import. In 2008, the U.S. imported $341.9 billion worth, a total of 16.3% imports. Most of the crude oil primarily comes from Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico, respectively. In September 2011, crude oil imports averaged a total of 9,006 barrels a day – 2,324 barrels of that came from Canada, the largest exporter.
