A luxury apartment complex build in Texas (yes Texas) in June this year became the largest structure certified under the National Green Building Standard. The complex is called the Voyager at Space Center and met set benchmarks in water, resource, and energy efficiency. Constructed on the site of an old office building, it gained points for reusing some of those materials. The landscaping was designed to minimize irrigation demands. The appliances within all 313 unites are certified by Energy Star. The complex also got a gold star for being walking distance to the Johnson Space Center where residents are employed. Apparently Texas is “going green”. Who knew!
