    While there are no commercial diamond mines operating in the United States, prospectors estimate that the largest diamond deposits are in Alaska, Minnesota and Wyoming.  

    The one active U.S. diamond mine is open to the public.  It is located at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas and yields only a few hundred carats a year.
