With 16,000 dairy cows producing more than one million gallons of milk per day, Threemile Canyon Farms in Boardman, Oregon claims the title of America’s largest dairy farm. With 93,000 acres of land roughly 150 miles outside of Portland, the farm also produces potatoes and other crops.  You can find out more about the farm’s other products, and their environmentally friendly methods at the link provided.

Just to add a little more information about Threemile Canyon Farms—the cows are all BST-free and do not receive any kind of hormones to stimulate milk production. In addition, the cows all receive a vegetarian diet, including peelings and other plant material leftovers from the crops grown on the farm. They have a 4,000-calf nursery and a 21,000 head heifer facility, and information on every single cow, which are all tagged and tracked, is kept in a computer database. Two-thirds of the milk from this farm goes to the Tillamook County Creamery Association.
