Navistar and Modec are both large producers of commercial EV trucks. FedEx has actually started incorporating models from both companies, which have an alliance, into their fleet. Their EVs are ideal for FedEx as they are designed with stop and go driving in mind.
Great question. Zap is making great headway in this field and seems to be aligning itself with the military. This will lower the cost it takes to make the electric trucks and will make it more affordable for regular companies. The government must start buying these electric vehicles first!
Paccar, based in Bellevue Washington, has begun developing a line of medium to heavy duty hybrid commercial trucks. These are the big semi trucks. They do cost about $40,000 more than the normal trucks though.
