The Hickory Horned Devil is the largest caterpillar in the world. They grow up to about 14 cm, about the size of a regular hot dog. They are most commonly a blue-green color with black dots and large orange scoli (which kind of look like horns). While the caterpillars appear dangerous, they are completely harmless. The Hickory Horned Devil will eventually turn in to a Regal Moth which can have a wingspan up to 15.5 cm.

The Hickory Horned Devil is the largest caterpillar species. It can get up to 4.5 inches long! It gets its name from 4 projections near its head that look like horns, which can get up to 3/4 of an inch long. It looks scary, but it is harmless and doesn’t bother humans. As pupa, they are about 2 inches long. When they emerge as butterflies, they are are called Regal Moths.
