The largest breed of cow is the Chianina.  It is an Italian type of cow that was formerly a work cow but is now bred for its meat.  Not only is it the largest cattle breed it is also one of the oldest in the world.

The Chianina’s most prominent characteristic is their muscular structuring.  They are known for having extremely defined and rather large muscles across their shoulders, back and hind legs.  Their legs are also longer than most cows.

The largest breed of cow is the Chianina, a breed of beef cattle that originated in Italy.  In their home country, Chinanina cattle were traditionally used as draft animals, but today, they are bred primarily for beef.  The Chianina breed was introduced in the US in 1971, in the form of a semen specimen.
