The largest newborn on record is the one listed above, listed as 23 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring in at 30 inches long. The biggest healthy baby that survived was 22 pounds, 8 ounces, born in Italy in 1955. For perspective, the average birth weight for an American baby is about 7.5 pounds. At about 3 times that weight, those are some big babies!
