    The largest animal to ever roam the earth was most likely a dinosaur.  The amphicoelias measured 60 meters and may have had a weight of 122 metric tons.  It was a herbivore, similar to the brontosaurus in build only bigger.  More information is below.

    Yes, the largest creatures in the history of the planet existed during the Mesozoic era, when dinosaurs were among the most prevalent creatures. The largest were the Sauropods, who had incredibly long necks, massive bodies, and lengthy, powerful tails. This family includes Apatosaurus, Diplodicus, and the incredibly large Ultrasaurus.

    The largest known animal on earth is the blue whale. Mature blue whales can measure anywhere from 75 feet to 100 feet from head to tail and can weigh as much as 150 tons. The largest blue whale to date was a female that weighed  389,760 pounds. Due to excessive whaling, the blue whale is considered an endangered species.
