The Blue Whale is the largest animal on the endangered species list. Global warming, oil spillages and fishermen activities have led to the gradual decrease in the Blue Whale population.

The blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) is the largest animal on Earth, and also therefore, the largest on the endangered species list.  There are 2500 estimated individuals left in the oceans, mostly due to the whaling industries.

I’m not sure which figure is right, but according to National Geographic, there are actually closer to between 10,000 and 25,000 blue whales in the oceans today.

Just for size comparison purposes, a blue whale against a school bus:

Did you know blue whales can live as long as 80 or 90 years? And that blue whale babies can be as long as 25 feet and weigh as much as 3 tons at birth? They’re true behemoths.
